Ring Free

I would like to know if the use of Techron in four strokes is equal to Ring Free. Would be nice to go to Costco rather than Yamaha

Chevron gas with Techron is not a no-no for outboards, but the Techron Additive is designed for automotive engines and the Ringfree is designed for marine/outboard motors. They both work great for their prescribed applications. They are both some type of Amine, which is different from most fuel additives. If you go to: Oronite Additives Div. of Chevron you can read all about what these folks do, and they're into all types of additives for all types of fuels/engines, and I believe they know what they're doing. I'd love to sit down with their head chemist and have him explain to me all about this, but then they'd have to kill me! Good Luck!
