    the spring is the one on the oil seal under the water pump.
    he found one missing before and replaced the seals.
    I am with you tho, maybe find it broken, but missing means it went somewhere

      That spring is soooo tiny it very likely got spit out the LU.

      When I recently (beginning of this year) replaced the WP and pulled the wear plate and plastic cover over those seals, there was all kinds of crap (debris, etc) in there.... How that crap got in there IDK.

      Being a flushing fanatic, the rubber plug (to access the trim tab bolt), is ALWAYS removed and inside there is flushed (with the rest of the engine).

      The engine is later tilted in both directions FULLY to try and get ALL water out..
      But that crap was still in there (about 3 years between WP's and those seals).
