From what I have read one cylinder will normally be dropped at idle in neutral,
as rpm rises it will drop another
if it gets too high it will drop a 3rd cylinder.

And there should be a difference between the shift switch and neutral switch

Just trying to get Robolt or bosco to confirm it all and what they are called

We don't even know what model motor we are talking about here. I guessed at a Z200***X but???

There are neutral safety switches, shift cut switches and there are shift position switches. Not all models use both.

Not all models that use a shift position switch drop cylinders when in neutral and when at certain RPM's.

Without knowing the precise model and year of the motor we are chasing wabbits down a hole.

I do not have the sticker in front of me, but this is the model. Boat is 2 hours away.
