If it is broken and does not meet specifications that is what I would do.

Now if it is not broken I would then inspect the wiring. And hope that it is a wiring issue and not the one in one million CDI issue.

OH, OK, the resistors and so on we're for just testing, I was kind of reading it as a permanent "fix"

I would never recommend a jury rig as a permanent fix.
but would I replace a trim sensor on a 20+ yr old motor I owned ?

I just said how to test it with about 5 bucks worth of radio shack stuff.
yea, I still like to browse in a radio shack store. .

gonna test it but for now I've moved the override toggle switch up to the console so that when alarm goes off I can refill tank without removing cover, balancing ect ect. Works fine, just got to time how long to hold toggle switch!!!!!! Now I'm looking for a repair manual( the real one not seloc ect)

your simply not going to find much info on PBS in a service manual.
specs for full up and down are about the best you can hope for.

I have probably posted more information on PBS than the school house at Kennesaw GA.

the switch in the remote tank, or its associated wiring can also inhibit automatic transfer.

now think about you are depending on an alarm to tell you the level is low very often to keep you from destroying the motor because of no oil.

i would fix the problem correctly
