  • Shift Lever punctured block due to improper lower unit install for F150

Has anyone exerienced a puncture in the engine block from the improper installation of the lower unit (after impeller replacement)? Oil was pouring out of the engine lower unit when trimed up enginer. can this be repaired? can i remove the engine block and weld a cover plate to the block or machine a plug? thanks in advance if there is any recommendations for this repair

I can say I have never heard of such a thing happening.
    how did this happen?
lower unit should just slip up easily with the shift shaft ad drive shaft stabbing into proper places and then snug up the bolts.
Did someone miss and forced the system together with the bolts

yes, that appears to be the root cause of this event.

I hope it was not you, so you can make someone else pay to fix it right

my son is the culprit. 'Dad lets do a thorough 5 year maintenace and replace the impeller - it will be fun he said.'

i am in the process of removing the block to see if it can be repaired with a weld or tap and plug.
