    my son is the culprit. 'Dad lets do a thorough 5 year maintenace and replace the impeller - it will be fun he said.'

    I can say I have never heard of such a thing happening.
    how did this happen?
    lower unit should just slip up easily with the shift shaft ad drive shaft stabbing into proper places and then snug up the bolts.
    Did someone miss and forced the system together with the bolts

    Has anyone exerienced a puncture in the engine block from the improper installation of the lower unit (after impeller replacement)? Oil was pouring out of the engine lower unit when trimed up enginer. can this be repaired? can i remove the engine block and weld a cover plate to the block or machine a plug? thanks in advance if there is any recommendations for this repair
