        it would be best to contact the manufacturer and ask if it will work on an alternator driven signal of your outboard.
        I am guessing you F90 uses the pulses from the alternator magnets and not something produced by the ECU

        maybe Boscoe can confirm what type of tach signal this F90 uses

            Edit : Looking at directions, there is a sensor on the plug wire. Doesn't look to be a coil device. It looks like he went with other option.
