it would be best to contact the manufacturer and ask if it will work on an alternator driven signal of your outboard.
I am guessing you F90 uses the pulses from the alternator magnets and not something produced by the ECU

maybe Boscoe can confirm what type of tach signal this F90 uses

That tach uses an inductive pickup.

Would this mean the tach would function from the "Hall Effect" that Rodbolt discussed on several threads in the past? Versus an electric signal. The tach would need a sensor mounted on a flywheel or something similar, correct?

Edit : Looking at directions, there is a sensor on the plug wire. Doesn't look to be a coil device. It looks like he went with other option.
