I have a single phase PMA alternator also. It will show a clean sine wave. Similar to what I see if testing a wall outlet.

Three phase alternator. Three output wires. Probe ground clip attached to one of the three phases. The other clip was attached to a different phase wire.

I think I originally said to do something like that, but after watching those U tube videos I had changed my mind, and told you that.
and said to watch them yourself also.

I do not even remember how or what to set the triggers at.

This 3 phase system you have may not be referenced to ground, but I am pretty sure the outboard charging systems are.

I would think hooking the ground clip to the frame of the generator would be a good way to go.
have you measure voltage to each phase to that generator case ,and Phase to Phase?
