  • No power to ignition, tilt trim, 90 hp 2 stroke

Changed out the battery on my 1998 90hp Yamaha 2 stroke. Checked that all the wires were on and secure. Turned the key, nothing. Tilt trim is dead too.

Make sure positives are on positive and negatives are on negative. Then look again for a missed wire that fell behidn the battery somewhere. I assume you have fuses on the side of the powerhead? Do you have any breakers/fuses on the boat that are between the battery and the engine?

Thank you for your suggestions. I pulled both batteries out to check if I missed a wire. I visually checked the inline fuses on the engine but I can do a continuity check on them. I do have power to what I believe is the power pack.

You said you changed out the battery...does that mean you replaced a bad cranking battery with a new cranking battery? If so, was there a power issue before the bad battery went bad?

All outboards if you have the main battery cabels connected (right) electrical will tilt/trim.
