  • 2002 150 V Max not charging

Stator and rectifier both pass ohm and diode tests. Both look brand new. What else could stop charging? Can’t find wiring diagram for vmax.

Need the model of the motor. Vmax is not it.

V150TLRA is the model. Tells us that it has carburetors. Not that this matters in your case.

Was the lighting coil tested for output voltage? Ohms can be good but if the coil is shorted to ground the output will be down or non existent.

Yam has the lighting coil tested for peak voltage using a peak reading meter but your regular mutli-meter set to test for AC voltage will give you a good general idea.

        Three green wires. A, B and C. A to B. A to C. and B to C.

Wiring diagram is in the service manual.

Are lighting coil and rectifier the same?

lighting coil is under the flywheel it sends AC power to the rectifier/regulator

Ty. I guess that is what I’m calling stator.
when I tested voltage at battery while engine is running there is no change even when reving the engine
I will try to find service manual so I can run the wires and test them
is there a in line fuse to battery?

no fuse that I know about.
but I never worked on that motor before

Fuse downstream from the R/R. Will not affect output from the lighting coil.

Test the lighting coil. If voltage is good from the coil but not from the R/R it almost has to be the R/R.

Where did you get your test procedure from for the lighting coil and the R/R?

Sounds like there is a fuse down stream of the RR to the battery, so look for that if there is good voltage from the lighting coil

That's scary. The blind leading the blind.

Try this. After verifying that the fuse between the R/R and the battery is good.

Three tests for the lighting coil. To test all three outputs from it.
