    [solved]

    Hi all,

i guess this is common topic here

I have tried serial decoding and such, but im still lost which outboard i have. It is 50hp and i assume its a 1990 model. But thats about it. Mostly i need this information to find a owners manual for my engine. Also knowing can i add thermometer and tachometer to it.

On top it says "50DETO" the last O can be zero too tough.
Then there is three more texts. "6H5" then there is letter "L" and finally "512161" which i assume is serial number.

    It is a 3 cylinder two-stroke engine.

If someone could point to me details of which engine this is, or show me how to find it out myself i would be very pleased.

    Thanks.

Well, its not a USA model, so its not shown 'as such'
in the Yamaha USA parts listing.

    Its been discussed here before:
    https://www.yamahaoutboardparts.com/...452-model-year

FWIW, you can download a 1984 50DETO Owners Manual at this link:

Thanks fairdeal. You happen to know is there huge differences between 1984 and 1990 models?

It is a 1990 model year motor. Equivalent to the 1990 USA 50 HP two stroke models. https://www.boats.net/catalog/yamaha...ear/1990/50eld
