1988 Yamaha 90 2 stroke alarm when turning the key - how can I determine whether it is the heat sensor or the or sensor?

  • #2
    I'm weak on antique 2-strokes.

But why would Yamaha design an engine to alarm - at key on -
from a heat sensor ? to what end?
what would you do - just go away and wait for it to cool down?

Alarm triggered by key turn is usually indicative of cranking battery low volts.

that old of a motor I would not think a low voltage alarm would exist.
disconnecting the wire to a over temp should tell if that was a problem
oil, would take some more wiring trouble shooting
