  • Loose 705 Flush Control - How to tighten?

    Hello:
I have a 705 Flush control that is loose. It is separating from the fiberglass by about 2-3cm. I tried removing the handle and removing the black cover/ring, but it is not coming off. Does that ring need to be pried off with a bit of force, or should it be coming off by simply twisting? Correct me if I am wrong, but I should be able to tighten the screws once I get that cover/ring off, right?
    Thanks for your help,
    Roger

Thanks for the reply and the link. It does help clarify the piece that I am trying to remove to get access to the bolts that I need to tighten - #71 (6X0-48225-00-00). My issue is that I've tried twisting it off like a lid, and prying the edges but it doesn't move. I guess I need to muscle it off. I was just afraid of breaking anything. I also wondered if anyone else had any problems removing that piece as well. Thanks again!

I honestly don't know, never had one apart.

Looks like it may snap into part #55

Even if you destroy it, its $8.00

If you can wait, someone will chime in with a correct answer

The handle has to come off to gain access to the screws that need to be tightened.

To get the handle off the free accelerator button has to be removed to gain access to the two screws and washer that hold the handle in place.

After the handle is removed the cover is removed to get to either machine screws/nuts or wood screws that fasten the box to the side panel.

See illustrations below. If more help is needed, holler.

                  Thanks again

Well, the ring was stuck. I just had to pry it with a small flat head screwdriver. I tightened the screws and applied some grease and I'm good to go. Thanks again for your suggestions!
