  • Engine control problems

I have a 2006 250 hp 4 stroke. I keep the boat in the water. Went to use it today, turned on battery switch, lowered engine, started engine, then the engine started to raise itself. When i hit the switch on the control handle it would stop, when i let off it would continue to rise. Turned off the engine (had to otherwise it would be running out of the water) and the rise motor keeps running, only way to turn it off is to turn off the battery.

    Any ideas?

Is the T&T switch on the control arm returning to the center position on its own?

When you say: "When i hit the switch on the control handle it would stop" , you "hit it" in what way???

it is one of the switches or the wiring.
Need to disconnect and troubleshoot to make sure which has the problem

either the switch at the control box failed or the switch on the engine pan failed.
unplug them one at a time and see what happens.
