Hi, I recently purchased a boat with a 1994 Yamaha 115 (C115TLRS). It's got over 3200 hours on it but still works very well to my surprise, been using it daily for the last couple of weeks. I've never owned an outboard before and I'm wondering what kinds of things I should be doing in order to keep this motor running. The only thing I've done so far is change the spark plugs. Thanks!

I did but I wasn't sure it was applicable to my 1994 and I'm really looking to keep my costs down on this so I was wondering if you guys could share what the most essential maintenance items are. I'm particularly interested in which items could cause the motor to leave me stranded or cause damange if neglected? The waterpump impeller comes to mind but it really looks like it's squirting the water out really well so I'm assuming that means it's in satisfactory condition?Originally posted by 99yam40 View Post

Crazy isn't it? I kept thinking this thing was going to give out on me but I'll be damned if this thing doesn't run great (knock on wood!) so far. It's on a small 18 footer used for inshore fishing mainly, so I don't need much from it, but I just want to know what kinds of things I should be doing in order to reach another 3000 hrs or soOriginally posted by Tail Whipped View PostIs there a schedule for 3,200 hrs.....lol.
Also, is there anywhere online to download an owners & service manual for free?
Sorry for all the edits but lest anyone think I'm exaggerating, here are a couple of photos.

Guess I wouldn't do a thing Tuning it up might break it lol
I would do the easy simple stuff.
Can of Yammi Decarbon cleaner. Follow the directions on the can. Note : don't do it in the driveway some nasty stuff comes out and will foul up your driveway.
PLUGS
WIRES
LOWER UNIT OIL
GREASE ZERKS
FUEL FILTER
WATER PUMP
But I'm sure all this has been done 100x ton roll 3,200 hoursLast edited by Tail Whipped; 07-13-2012, 10:38 PM.257 Grady White Advance 225 Yamaha

Are plug wires easily changable on these outboards? It doesn't appear so on mine (1994 C115). If the boat has a water seperator would it be in an obvious location? I'd like to install one of those as well.
