  • Prop or Drive shaft problem

200 Yamaha purchased in July with less than 200 hours. Problem occured yesterday.

While traveling at ~30 MPH, the prop suddenly stopped turning but the engine continued to run at an even higher RPM. The engine ran and runs fine but the prop does not appear to be engaged at any thing faster than an idle speed.

How do I check to see if it is the hub in the prop or if it is something else.

Take out a marker pen and mark the hub with a line onto the housing. Take it for a short spin, if the lines no longer line up your hup is spun. You can also take the prop off and have a look from the backside, the rubber may look twisted. Best way though is to install a known good prop, if everything is then ok; Has to be your prop

Need to mark the prop and the hub not the housing,
but it is your prop as I have never heard of anything else doing what you said
