water impeller installation on 1987 prov

I have instaloled na new impeller on my lower unit. The water tube goes into the waterpump housing, there are three pieces left, a brass compression ring, a small white(pvc) pipe approximately 1 inch long. There is also a black sleeve insert that will fit into the waterpump housing. I need help as to whyat order these pieces go.

I'm about to try to drop my lower unit as well and i,ve never done a yamaha. I will wait to see what the others tell you here .

can we get a picture?
there is a rubber seal that fits in the housing and a snap in retainer that holds it.
no copper compression rings.
