  • F150 - Can't find Motor Model Code

    Hi
Just bought a boat with a Yamaha F150A motor on.
I can not see any plates on the motor in order to know the modelnr.
I can see serialnumber on the motorblock.

I have some numbers in my papers : 63P-2819X-80
What year could this motor been produced?

I heard there should be some marking under the cowling?
Where can I find the model nr?

    regards Peter

Normally that info is labeled on the bracket, port side. Bracket that attaches the motor to the boat....Big silver/grey aluminum thing that also contains trim/tilt rams that bolts to transom?

      No motor marking available

I repeat once again, look at the attached Picture.
There is no plate on the bracket, I looked at both sides, nothing.
I dont know why there is no plate.

The only thing I have is the serial number on the motor block.

      Serial number #6090845
There is also some numbers inside the cowler (molded in)
I dont know if they say anything.
      UP-GF-30
      63p-42611-00

      Is this helpful?
      Regards Peter

people that steal motors like to remove ID plates of motors so they are harder to trace

          Hi
I dont this motor is stolen. The labels comes off quite easy, there is the problem.

Its more like stickers that falls off after some years.
I am working with local Yamaha dealer but they struggles to find answers.
          Any more ideas?

Strange , I do not remember ever seeing a Yamaha motor that the tags just fell off of and I have seen some old ones.
being it is not a motor that was sold here in the states, I do not think many people over here will know much.

But Boscoe or someone not from the states might come up with something.

I haven't seen any tags fall off either.

Yam, is it still legal to shoot thieves in Texas? Used to be not too long ago.

Thought K was for a 1985 model year. So Yamaha made an F150 in 1985?

I believe the chart you were looking at was not for something made for markets outside the US

                      Hi
K standard for 2006 according to articles that I found.
Yamaha Sweden has still problems finding My motor in the databases.
                      To be continued....

What happened to the suggestion of reading number off of ECU?

I read the OP's reply that he found what he was looking for in the form of the letter K that was telling somebody something.
                          I will look into that...

did you read the writing on that chart?

"This Yamaha outboard year model chart will only work for Asia Pacific distributed engines. If you have a Yamaha engine that has been bought in from America or Europe direct the parts will still be the same but your model and year model code will be different."
