  • VMAX HPDI 250 start up

I've run a VMAX Carbuerated (sp) 150 for the last 7 years with absolutely no problems.

I just bought a new bassboat with a VMAX HPDI 250 on it am having a hard time adjusting to it. When after starting, if I hit the hot foot it tends to die unless I let it warm up for 5 minutes. But if I immediately put it in reverse to back off the trailer, it does fine. I'm assuming there is some kind of limiter on the throttle when it is in neutral as it will not rev up at all. This has not been addressed in my manual that I can see.

My Question: Is this normal? The engine seems to run and perform fine after I leave the dock.

Yes the HPDI does have an over rev limiter when in neutral position and it only idles on 4 cylinders when in neutal, when put in gear all cylinders are avtive.
