  • Help 1998 Yamaha 150 temp sender questions

New to here and outboards. Just purchased a 1991 Hydrasport 1850 with a 1998 Yamaha 150. The engine temp gauge does not work. It has hydrasport gauges not yamaha. I think I found the temp sending unit on the engine, but the connector looks like it is sealed and cannot be removed from the sender? The wire go's down the center of the sender and sealed. Also the water pressure and trim poition does not work. Do not know what the water pressure gauge is for. Any help?
    Thanks

Yamaha temp gauges use a sensor that has wires potted into sensor(blue and a black wire) that is screwed into port on top of block, the water temp sensor will be on one side of block and water pressure tubing will be on other side.

If they are aftermarket gauges sensors could be any where on heads.

Thanks. Do you look at the engine from the side the chock pull is looking aft of the boat? How do you remove the temp sender with the wires potted into the sender, don't that twist the wires as you remove the sender?
      Thanks again
