  • What is the best color brand to match Original?

Hi, I'm looking to re-paint the exterior of my 1991 225 TXRP YAMAHA and I have been looking at Color Rite selection which have the original paint code. Is this the best brand to use or should I look to some other options?
Advices and photos of yours will help a lot! Thanks.

I got some spray paint at Advance Auto to touch up the scrapes and scratches on my Yamaha and it turned out to be a pretty darn good match. It's Dupli-Color Truck, Van & SUV paint T177 Gunmetal Gray. It has that bluish/gray metalic color very similar to the original Yamaha color. Check it out and good luck!

My motor is a 1999 model and the spray paint I mentioned was a very near match for the original but I wouldn't say perfect, but where I painted the skeg you really can't see the difference. I think you're correct about the Yamaha colors changing but not sure what years they changed. Good Luck!
