  • C85 Trim Question

I have a 96 C85 and the dust seal needs to be replaced. I called my local dealer and they told me that this particular unit is not serviceable because of the the lower part of the shaft (I think is what he said) had a piece that was welded on and prevents the seals being replaced.

Can someone verify the validity of this? What are my options?

    Thanks,

    Will

The seals from a C90 will work but will need a vise with soft jaws to remove piston from shaft. here is link to parts Yamaha Outboard Parts 1999 C90TLRX POWER TRIM & TILT ASSEMBLY Diagram

sorry, forgot to mention that the guy told me I can buy the seals/o-rings, but I would not be able to install b/c of the the bottom piece of the piston (#20 in diagram). Is that true?

I haven't seen any welded, we have replaced them on the C85 and piston is threaded onto shaft.

Is there a kit for these seals, etc?

No kits available just need to order parts needed, orings and seals.
