  • Tach Connection Question

I have a 96 85hp 2 stroke, and have purchased the 6Y7-83540-90-00 tach with oil and overheat lights. I would like to know what the over heat light needs to be connected to in order to work? There are no wires, that I see, that can be conncted?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

    Thanks,

    Will

No the 85hp only came as a non oil injected model and didn't have the connections for warning lights in gauges. You could install a temp gauge.

Ohhh...so there is no way to rig the overheat light? I would just have to rely on the alarm going off, right?

No it wouldn't be very easy to hook up a overheat warning light. The buzzer will sound and rpm reduction will activate if overheats. On that engine the overheat is the only thing that activates the alarm system.
