  • Possible problem with new Speedometer

I recently purchased a new speedometer from the local Yamaha dealer. It's probably old stock the dealer wanted gone, but it matches my gauge set.
The problem is, When I opened the box the needle on the speedo is sitting on 30mph. The dealer said it will be OK once it's installed and run, I am more than skeptical.
I can draw the needle down to 0 MPH by applying vacuum with a vacuum gun but when I release the vacuum it jumps back to 30 mph.

    Am I missing something?

It may read but the speed will start at 30 not 0. I would say it's bad.

I'll bet that when it is hooked up , it will work fine.

      Let us know what happens.
