  • 1991 Yamaha150 tlrp water pump press.

Changed the complete water pump (housing etc.) went to the lake and ran the boat(1991 Skeeter 18-5). Motor ran fine. Observed the water pump pressure gauge and it read 15 to 20 PSI. Is this a good press. reading ? Outside temp was 83 degrees water temp at lake 74 degrees. Also in the winter my press. gauge will show a higher press than in the summer months.
I ussualy run about 4000 rpm's after on plain. No need to get there in a hurry.
Can this gauge be off a little ?. I just thought that it would be reading above 20 t0 25 psi at this rpm.
    Thanks, Ray

11 psi at full throttle is the mininum water pressure, 15 to 20 is ok.

Thanks for the reply. This is a great web site and I like reading all of the post. I use to work in a boat shop A long ,long time ago. We built wooden Dories for shell fishermen on the Rhode Island coast. We had to steam the wood in order to bend it to the ribs on the hull. Am I old or what ?
