2002 9.9 4 stroke smoking

I have a 2002 Yamaha 4 stroke that I think was laid on the wrong side. after cleaning out the oil and running her for about 6 hour it still smokes heavily.

It also seems to burn about a pint of oil every hour or 2 of run time. I stop it check the gauge and top it off after about 2 hours hard running its at the bottom of the dipstick

Any Ideas?

Need to have compression test and leak down test run on motor to see if have leakage past rings. Carefull not to overfill with oil, check oil level after engine has been shut off for a least 5 minutes and in trimmed down(level position), only add oil if level is below add mark on dip stick.

Think that part of the problem is adding too much oil.

Noticed that whet turning over there is a lot of tension on the starting rope, but when I pull the spark plugs it pulls with ease. Could there be something with the air intake clogged? and that is what is pulling more oil up through the scavenger tube?

Think I will pull off the carb this weekend and take a look.
