  • Switching Multi-func Tach to Fuel Management

I currently have a 6Y5-83570-S5-00 Multi function tach for my 98 sx225 which has a cracked screen and instead of replacing it with the same I am wanting to replace it with a Fuel Management Gauge 6Y5-W0088-53-00. Is this feasible without much in additional harness/fuel flow sensors etc. What else besides the gauge would I need to make the switch?

    No

You wouldn't switch the Tach for a Fuel Management Gauge. You might switch the Speedo for the FMS gauge (if you install a separate fuel quantity gauge....). Do you not want another 4" hole in your console or something? The Yamaha FMS has it's own separate harness altogether. It's all color coded like the rest of the Yamaha harness. The Yamaha Tach gauge has all the warning indicators for the engine systems. Whereas the Speedo gauge just has the fuel quantity bar in it. You can usually find your model tach on Ebay for $100-$200 . http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Yamah...ssoriesQ5fGear
