Cruising on my twin 89 200s I get 15.7-15.9 volts on digital gauge. Never gone over 16 but seems high. Is that too much? Been this way for as long as I can remember.......

Verify voltage with a hand held meter. You might have a gauge that is not calibrated correctly. Don't hold me to this but I believe there may be dip switches on the back that need to be set correctly. Someone else may be able to verify.

Check at the battery and at the back of the meter on the boat with a good voltmeter and see if the one one the boat is reading correct. Automotive alternators are usually regulated around 14.5 V but I have never put a meter on a large outboard. 15.7 V sounds kind of high to me.

I've checked with handheld digital and also the dash analog gauges for each motor are reading the same almost touching 16.

I'm thinking I'd better check the water in the 4 batteries.

I'm wondering if the 4 battery setup may be causing the overcharging??
