  • Lower unit drain plugs

Boat's been in slip since Sunday. Went down last night and noticed slick around lower unit. When I changed oil I don't think I put the plugs in tight enough. Book says 5-ft lbs. How much is that? A little tight? Grunt tight?. Afraid of stripping the threads. Should I have replace the o-rings?

slick probably from other parts of motor, plugs probably didn't fall out, but you'll feel better to check and re-tighten them, check washers/o-rings and replace as needed. just tighten them "good and tight", not sure what that translates in foot/pounds, but probably don't worry about stripping them unless you put the "gorilla torque" on them. Good luck!
