  • ProV150 overheat at low RPMS?

I have a proV150 that runs apparently fine at higher RPMs but the emergency buzzer turns on when I put it in gear and ***** at minimum RPMS. It takes a few minutes for the buzzer to turn on. I turn the engine off wait a few minutes then its OK as long as I keep the RPMs up?

Are you getting any water stream from tell-tail discharge at low rpm? Could be a weak water pump. Could be stuck thermostats. If it has been at least three years since last water pump repair - do it. If that doesn't fix problem, pull the thermostat covers and inpect thermos. If they are all covered in salt/sand deposits remove and clean them. Then do a temp test per the Yamaha shop manual. Replace as needed. Also, you might want to flush engine with "Salt-Away" or "Salt-Terminator" if the water jackets look loaded up with deposits.
    Good luck,
