  • Faded readout on tach and speedometer

I have a 1998 Yamaha 225 Salt Water Series 2 stroke on a 1998 Grady White. I had the marina, who is a Yamaha dealer install two new batteries. The same day the tach started to act up. The readout was faded. The next time I used the boat the speedometer was also faded. I checked to see if they left any wires of the batteries or reversed polarity, but they looked okay. I thought it was strange that they both are acting up one right after the other after the install of the batteries. Does any one have any experiance or advise on this?

    Thanks in advance

The gauges gets power from key switch, if everthing else on key switch works ok then gauges are probably bad. Check to see if getting 12 volts between yellow and black wires(with key on) at gauge.

Thanks for the info. I tested the wiring and found 13.2 volts, so I have ordered new gauges.
