  • Yamha or Aftermarket oil and filter in Fourstroke?

Sorry, tried a search but couldn't get any results. I'm a rookie here! Recently pruchased an offshore boat with a 2005 F200 Yamaha. I've owned a Yamaha outboard before but never a 4 stroke. Considering I run Pennzoil in my Maliu ski boat, I'm considering running it in my Yamaha as well. Is it worth the extra hassel locating and purchasing Yamaha's 4-stroke oil and also what about an OEM oil filter? I know a lot of OEM stuff is made by aftermarket firms and stamped "yamaha" to get that extra 40% in the cost! Thanks for your input in advance!

One last question if I choose to run an aftermarket oil and filter, is any one better than the other?

    Thanks!

    Any of the synthetics...

Any of the synthetic oils would be a good choice.

    For filters you can use:
    NAPA **** #1348....
    Fram PH3614.....
    Purolator PL10241....

the NAPA (Wix) one is a good choice ....something like $6.
