I have just purchased a 15 hp 4 stroke engine (used but in excellent condition) to use as a kicker engine. I would really like to add an alternator so that I could use it to charge a battery while *****ing or for emergency purposes. Where do I find the parts I'd need and what info do you need from me to find the correct parts?

    Thanks for your assistance.

      alternator

      Engine model F15MSHY 66M S 004147 Manufactured 01/00

Engine is essentially brand new out of shipping crate with only a few hours on it.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also need to find an owner's manual as the original owner couldn't find it.

It has a 6 amp alternator you will need to install a rectifier, part number 6G1-81970-00-00.
You can view owners manual at Yamaha's web site, www.yamaha-motor.com

          rectifier

          Hi,

Thanks very much for the info and part number. I'm going to look into how difficult it is to install and what cables I'd need and determine if this is something I can install myself.

It comes with wire, install one bolt, connect wires and it's ready.
