  • 2000 25hp 4-stroke - prop question

i have a 2000 yamaha on a small pathfinder flats boat. i use the boat at around 5000 ft above sea level which was certainly not expected for this boat since its a flats boat designed for inshore saltwater use.

so the engine was equipped with a 9 7/8 X 10 1/2 F (i hope i got that right). i understand that some folks alter the size of the prop to adjust for elevation to ensure the engine runs at the appropriate rpm. so my question is: is this the right size for 5000 feet, or should i use a smaller overall prop? the one on it now is probably ready for a replacement and i want to be sure i am maximizing effciency and horsepower.

my thanks in advance for any help on this one.....

The best information would be from local dealers in that area they would have more experience to any changed that might need to be done. The rpm range at wide open is 5000-6000 rpm's on that motor, try to prop it on upper side of that range.
