  • Year of Motor

I have just purchased a motor and the number is 20sf. Through all my findings I see that this should be a 20 HP short shaft 1989. Where I am having problems is findingh the model number for parts. Every list I see has a 25HP but no sign of a 20HP. I am to assume all parts are inter-changeable?

Any help or reassurance would be appreciated

The only 20hp 2 stroke motors sold in USA was in 1996 and 1997, if this motor was bought outside the USA I wouldn't have any information on it.

      Thanks for the reply

How do you suggest I determine exactly what I have. Serial number and call a dealer or post it here.

        20hp serial number

This is the serial number on the motor I have. the person I bought it off of believes its a 1989. I am not sure if it make a difference or not but I am in Ontario Canada. Did they maybe make 20hp up here. The serial number is as follows: 6L3S - 001135

Sorry Jb for not getting back sooner with thanks.
            I understand the 6L3 = 1988 assuming 20 is 20hp.
            DMO and DEO is?

The delemma I still have is, assuming I am orderering parts for a 1988 motor what model or HP do I use. When I look for a parts on line they always ask year and model.
