703 control compatability

I understand that the 90hp 2 stroke at some point switched from a pull to shift control setup to a push to shift setup (or vice versa). My question is when did the changeover occur, and would a 703-48207-17-10 control box work with the current generation 90hp 2 strokes? Thanks, Bob

The 90hp were always push to open throttle, some of the 70 hp and under changed.
