  • Another Electrical problem

I have a 2000 F100. When I hook it up to the battery, it won't start. Both the power tilt and starter just "click". I have tried several different batteries, so I know that it is not the power source.

What could go bad that would cause both the trim and starter to not get enough juice?

    Thanks

Sounds like a bad earth issue. Check and clean all terminals.

      Bonzai,
I would take a voltmeter and check for 12 volts that comes to the relays via the heavy (red) cable. Monitor the voltage when you try to start (keep your hands and voltmeter away from starter and flywheel). If the voltage drops below, say 2 volts, then you are losing the rest of the voltage at a bad connection somewhere.
Bottom line, if your starting battery is fully charged and you have only clicking of the relays when try to trim or start, then you have a bad connection. Check both power and ground connections at the battery and at the motor.
      Good luck,
