  • Switch settings in multifunction tach

I have I believe a newer tach with the colored icons and have hooked it up to a 2003 50HP 4 stroke outboard. This tach only has 2 dip switches on the back under a yellow plug. I was initially reading double the rpm's but turned switch 2 down and now reads correctly. Everything seems to work fine but the pointer to the oil icon stays on. It is full of oil and have idled the engine for about 5 minutes but this pointer stays on. Will this multifunction tach work with my motor? How do I find out which tach this is? There is a 35R on the back of the tach but no other numbers.

That tach was only made for 2 stroke engines, it will read rpm's correctly if set first dip switch up and second one down(12 pole alternator) but the oil lights wont work. You would need part number 6Y5-8350T-82-00( newer Multifunction Tach) in order for the low oil pressure warning light to work properly.
