replace o-ring PTT Trim ram? 1997 90 HP

What is the procedure to replace the O-ring on the end of the PTT Trim ram rod? Do I have to remove the end cap or can the old ring be picked out and a new one slid in? 1997 90 HP. I do not have a proper tool to remove the end-cap. Please advise.. and many thanks Bob T.

The trim rams you remove cap and replace seals, the tilt ram you remove cap and then remove piston from ram. You will need a spanner wrench to remove cap.
