    So, are you saying that what Yamaha says is always true? They are the ones that refer to the gizmo in the main (engine mounted) oil tank as being a sensor or an oil level gauge assembly. You know, the one with the three switches in it that sense the level of oil at different points within the tank.

    But I need help with other matters. How do I correctly set my TPP (Throttle Position Potentiometer)? And, I also need help with my later model motor figuring out a trim rheostat problem and with my older Yam figuring out a Trim potentiometer problem.

    Can you help me?

      yep . goes back to the jinglish and why some motors can run a fever.

        typically in the electronics world, a sensor is a device to give a varying feed back based on a changing condition,pressure,temp,altitude etc etc.

        however a switch is either ON or its OFF. no in
        betweenies.

        in the electronics world this is called a discrete input.

        a sensor typically gives an analog input, a switch is closer to a binary,octal or hexadecimal.
        its on or its off.
