  • Trim Motor Cover

The motor is a 2005 70 HP - TLRD used in salt water but very well kept. For some reason I have developed a rust spot wearing through only on the cover for the trim motor assembly. I would like to ask two things. One is it shouldn't be difficult for me to replace it but there is a third screw at the rear of the cover that I have no idea how to get a screwdriver to, it's right against the motor bracket and the transom. The other thing is the local dealer wants $82.00 dollars for this and that seems high to me for what it is. I tried to price it here but I can't find just the cover. It shows item #4 on the diagram but prices the whole unit, "stator assembly."

    Thanks for any help.

Yes number 4 is the trim motor housing, it has the stator magnets in it. It is cheaper to get complete trim motor which is number 2 in diagram. Sometimes you have loosen motor from boat to get access to rear bolts.
