  • Yamaha 4 cycle additives

With the use of Ethanol in Yamaha 4 cycle engines, what does Yamaha recommend for use for their engines. Products like Stabil can keep water suspended in the gas. Occasionaly the engine may burn water trapped in the fuel mixture , is there any additive that helps protect the internal parts of the engine from rust and corrision. Also, please address these points?

    1. Fuel storage products
    2. Oil treatment for 4 cycles
    3. External engine parts under engine cover(especially before storing the boat).

Yamaha still recommends using a 10 micron fuel/water separator fuel filter and Yamaha fuel stabilizer. Yamalube 4M oil for 4 stroke engines. There are aftermarket fuel stabilizers and treatments that may work better for ethanol.

Cam, your questions have been addressed somewhere around a zillion times on various boating websites, including this one. Try using the search function, or just google, and you'll find plenty of info.

Regarding #3, I spray everything under our F200s cover with WD40 once or twice a year - motor has 4 years on it and looks like new.
