  • 84 Yamaha 50hp idle problems

I have a problem took out the boat and when I got out of the no wake zone I gave it gas went up to about 4000 rpm and then started what I thought was back firing and loss of power. I limped back cleaned the carbs and fuel filter. and still at an idle and even when running around 3000 rpm out of the water sounding like its backfiring or skipping sound. Whats my problem can anyone help!!

Need to have it in water you can't tell much when running it out of water. Backfiring could be an ignition problem or lean fuel condition which could be plugged low speed circuit in carbs.

I pulled the white wire and no change. I'm going to do the smart thing and take it to the mechanic and let him figure it out. Thank You for your help.
