  • Alternator connection on 40 manual start?

Just hung a Yamaha F40BMLH, manual start 4stroke. Bought it under the impression it had an alternator, and all online specs agree. I'd like to connect it to my little trim tab battery to keep it charged. Would the wires be inside the cowling, and do I need a rectifier/regulator? Thanks for any info.

You would need to install a regulator, part number 65W-81960-10-00, 97080-06012-00 bolt and 92990-06600-00 washer. You will need install a wire from red lead on regulator to positive post on battery and a wire from engine block ground to ground on battery.

Thats the tachometer signal lead, not used if dont have a tach in boat.
