  • Brass shavings in my oil filter?

I pulled the oil filter on my Yamaha and it's got lots of metal shavings in there. I was assuming it was bearing material (excessive bearing material), but it sure looks like it's brass.

    Motor is a 2000 Yamaha F100 4 stroke.

So the question is where are the shavings come from? Could it be crank/rod bearings with that visual appearance, or do I have a wrist pin issue?

Wish I new. I actually got the motor like this. I paid for the boat and the motor came free.
