I keep hearing a ticking noise coming from the motor,it started maybe the first or the second time I had her on the bay. after having the lower unit rebuild. I been looking in to other forums and read something about a wrist pin.what can I do,should do, if this miight be the problem . if not, what else should I be looking for? or testing. 91/90hp yamaha tlrp. thanks everyone

You can get a pretty good idea if you have a bad wrist pin by doing the following:
    1.Remove all 3 spark plugs.
2.Rotate the flywheel by hand clockwise by hand while looking in the plug hole.
3.Rotate the engine untill the piston passes TDC and is on its way down the cylinder.
4.Insert a screwdriver into the plug hole so the tip just rests on the piston crown.
    5. Give the scewdriver a sharp tap with the palm of your hand.
    6. Look and listen for signs of excessive wrist pin play and a sharp matalic sound.

You can rotat the flywheel a little further and try this again. Compare the results amoung the 3 cylinders to find one with excessive wrist pin wear.
