03 40HP/30Jet-noisy

okay, just bought a Yamaha '03 40hp (F40MJHB)..put it in the water, and it sounds like something has broke loose in the top. I need to see if anyone has any ideas. I have narrowed it down to (looks like a keeper) something on the cam shaft keeps sliding around. In my remote living...it will take weeks to get what I need (book wise). Anyone got anything?

Yeah - grab the person who sold it to you and get your money back. If something has been flapping around it may well have trashed the cam.
