  • RPM Change from 13 1/4 X 17 to 13 3/4 X 15

I have a 90 HP yamaha 2 stroke mounted on a Boston Whaler Ventura 16. The motor is brand new and the dealer provided me with a 13 1/4 X 17 aluminum prop. This boat is is about 1350 lbs and has a 45 gal fuel tank. I have installed a SE 300 hydrofoil which has really helped getting up on plane and has helped in maintaining plane at a much lower RPM.(2800 vs 3500). I'm currently able to get 48-4900 at WOT and think that a different prop my be in order. Has anyone out there ever switched from 13-1/4 X 17 to 13-3/4 X15 and what if any difference in WOT RPM did it make.

    Thanks

It will gain 400-500 rpm's when drop to a 15 pitch prop.

Thank you. I wasn't sure as the 15" pitch has a 1/2" larger diameter. The 17" I was told is a general purpose prop. Would the 13-3/4 X 15 be considered a power prop and be better for towing skiers and heavy loads?

The smaller pitch will give it more rpm's, better hole shot but less speed on top end.

          prop choice

I have a 1991 boston whaler 91/90hp 16sl ventura cap/lbs 1320.24gal tank. the bow stays up at low speeds, will a 17 pitch 4 blade help, with out decreasing optimum performance ,4500 rpm at wot

If you can only get 4500 rpm's at wot then you need to drop in pitch(you could drop 4 inches of pitch) to get rpm's up and tote the load better.
