Have 2003 225 4 stroke. Not receiving port tach readings. Swapped out tach from other motor (have twins) tach works on other motor. Fuses ok in back of tach and under motor cowling. Any suggestions as to my next step. Hope it's not the ECU> Thanks for any info.

The tach signal does come from ECU but it could be a broken green wire between ECU and tach.

Thanks for the speedy reply. Further info: none of the functions of the gauge are working(tach, hour meter and trim indicator) Any further suggestions? Thanks againOriginally posted by finaddict4 View PostHave 2003 225 4 stroke. Not receiving port tach readings. Swapped out tach from other motor (have twins) tach works on other motor. Verify you have 12 volts between yellow and black wire with key on.

Found no voltage at meter, however had 12 volts at the key switch. Probably an open or bad connection somewhere along the interconnecting cables or plug connector. Rather than pulling the harness apart ran a seperate wire from the switch to the gauge. Bingo! works like a charm. Many many thanks for your advice.
