  • '03 200 HPDI - Fuse Issue

'03 200 HPDI was experiencing overheating issue due to water pump. Had tech replace pump and perform 100 hr. service on motor including fuel filters.

He now indicates that the fuses for the fuel injector continue to blow when cranking. Prior to service, motor would crank fine but for overheating issue relative to poor water intake. Any suggestions?

HI, sounds like a bad fuel pump. Nothing to do with the replacement of the water pump.

Why would the fuel pump suddenly go bad but for the mechanic's tune up?

I can only tell you what happened to me. After the 1st trip back to the shop, my fuel pump went. It kept blowing fuses. Ran fine before that, then out of the blue, nothing to indicate that were going bad, the fuel pump went. This is on a f225, but the same problem. Blowing fuses = bad pump. Usually. Check around for a grounded wire, better yet disconnect the plug on the pump, and see if the fuse will hold. If it does, you have your answer. If it does not, then trace out the wireing, till you find the short.
